Denise

Mutability and periodicity, new styles recalling old ones, seasons chasing each other, every single time in a different way, still being able to maintain their peculiarities. This is what Denise Sanna is like: fickle and still recognizable.

New signs, new techniques, new experimentations, still same style, that classic and unmistakable style of hers marked by dreary signs clashing and blending with digital work created with knowledgeable technique.

Clay, paper, resin, bronze: her expanding art work conciliate with pragmatism and practical needs.

Watching Denise work is a unique and unforgettable experience: it is like watching a intricate thriller movie with an unpredictable ending. And what an ending.

Her modus operandi sees the final creation like the natural evolution of the initial idea, which takes shape and inspiration from what is slowly materializing, which is the original idea itself.

The imagery moves from people to objects, from resin to paper, from three-dimensional to apparent bi-dimensional and paper gets manipulated with such strength and passion that it gains vital consistency and thickness: and the image wishes to turn into sculpture.

This is Denise, still in her mutations, simple in her complexity and unique in her versatility. Denise Sanna was born in Bologna, at the end of winter 1975.

After attending the High School at the Istituto Statale d’Arte of Ancona, she graduated in painting and afterwards specialized in sculpting at the l’Accademia di Belle Arti of Urbino. From 1997 until now she has taken part to a great number of collective and solo exhibitions around Italy, has successfully taken part to national and international contests, has illustrated many publications and much more.

In 2008 she became part of the Accolta dei 15, a group of artists from Fano with more than 60 years of activity behind them.

Denise lives and works in Fano.
